“Torn” – 99 word flash fiction

She curled in a protective ball in the corner, barely noticing the door slamming shut with anger as he stormed out.

The tears that she had kept locked inside for so long, refusing to let him see her being weak, now flowed freely. She thought he couldn’t take anything more from her, couldn’t break her spirit any further but he found the one thing she had left to cherish. It wasn’t enough that she had lost the baby but now the only evidence the little soul existed lay beside her. The ultrasound picture. Torn to shreds.
